Match Report | Gresford travelled to Abergele intent on continuing their good run of form. Gresford were invited to bowl first and Gareth Bell and Nicky Clare gave nothing away in a tight opening spell, Abergeles only boundaries coming off the edge of the bat. Simon Perry struck with a stumping before a rain delay reduced the match to 42 overs per side. After the rain break Perry took four more wickets to return 5-28 off 12 overs. Gareth Bell then took 2 wickets in two balls and Jimmy Williams also took a wicket. Special mention must go to Nicky Clare whose 12 overs went for just 20 runs. In reply, Gresford got off to a good start with 40 run opening stand between Henry Makings and Ian Weaver. Gresford wobbled when they lost Makings, Gareth Bell and Nicky Clare in quick time. But Weaver (47*) with the help of Abergele's nemisis, George Morris (14*), saw Gresford home. |
