Match Report | Inserted on a tricky looking wicket, Gresford reached 138 with 8 batsmen reaching double figures. Rory Benson forced the pace early on but was bowled by one that kept low. This set the pattern for the match, every time a batsmen looked to force the pace it proved their downfall. James Williams scored 22 not out to ensure Gresford reached a competitive total and bat out all their overs. The cold and wind made fielding less than pleasant for the 2nd week running. However, a fine opening burst from Cameron Murdoch (3-25) and James Williams (3-15) removed the Castell Alun top order. Simon Perry came on to take 3 wickets as Castell Alun pushed for a fourth point. Rory Benson held his nerve in the final over as Gresford won by 27 runs to ensure a 7-3 points split. News from Carmel told of a home victory over Mochdre. This season seems destined to go right down to the wire with the top three clubs facing the bottom three clubs next week! |
