Match Report | Gresford were asked to bat on a dry overcast afternoon at Clappers Lane. The away team started with great enthusiasm and got some assisstance from the wicket with the new ball. A Leading edge saw the end of Henry Makings and a good catch saw leading run scorer Ian Weaver dismissed for single figures. On his return from injury, captain Steve Griffin looked liked he'd never been away, seeing off the new ball bowlers on his way to a fine 76. The star of the show, however, was Rory Benson. Benson, given a life early on, punished anything loose with an array of shots on front and back foot on his way to an unbeaten 137. Gareth Bell found some form, scoring an unbeaten 48 at the end of the innings. Gresford totalled 297-3. Bethesda's openers put up a good fight, but once Jack Bunkell took the first wicket, the rest followed very quickly. Bunkell returning the remarkable figures of 5-7 off 7 overs. Cameron Murdoch, who had spent most of the afternoon sleeping off a week in Ayia Napa, awoke to take the final 4 wickets. With 5 games left to play, Gresford head to Carmel next week looking to keep top spot.
