Gresford Under 13's Vs Neath U13's

WELSH CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP CUP -Newport Cricket Club 6th July 2014

This prestigious knockout cricket competition is run throughout Wales which is broken down into four geographical zones.  The four finalists from each zone then meet on one day in July at Newport Cricket ground and play off for the cup, North Wales is one such zone, with the winner going through to finals day.

Gresford CC were drawn against Neath CC in the first play-off match.  After winning the toss GCC put Neath into bat. Henry Soper, Gresfords opening bowler struck first taking three wickets off his four over spell.  Toby Bellis, and Jack Cooper also were in the wickets. Gresfords other young bowler’s Jack Billington, Cameron Evans and Ethan McCarthy bowled tightly to restrict Neath to a total of 84-7.

Gresford batsmen then took up the run chase with Cameron Evans (27) and Henry Soper not out on 20 when the winning runs were scored. Dan Parry, Ewan Hoskins and Ryan McCarthy also contributed to achieving the target that had been set.

This win put GCC through to the finals... but who will we play, no suprise really, Cardiff CC! The boys were allocated the first team dressing room and drawn to play on the fantastic first team pitch, so we were treated like royalty.
