Match Report

A bout of torential rain had cast doubts on whether a crucial match could take place. The ground was soaked, but they decided to play anyway. Dan Parry won the toss and after a moments thought, exclaimed, 'right then we'll have the shallow end'.

GCC Vs Bangor U13's - 2nd Round Welsh Cup Sunday 8th June 2014

'SHOO!, SHOO! and that was all it took for George to get the two ducks who had taken a liking to the puddle in the centre of the wicket to vacate their temporary home, so that the game could go ahead.  Bangor were the visitors to Clappers Lane in the 2nd round of the Welsh Cup.

Dan won the toss and elected to bat first.  Jack Cooper (31*) and Ewan Hoskins (9) opened for GCC and made an excellent start. Ewan made way for Dan Parry (30*), who came to the crease and continued to take the initative with some great running between the wickets.  Once they had reached their maximum scores, Henry Soper (22*) and Rufus Bland (5*) took up the challenge and saw the 20 overs out with the total up to 114-1.

After a quick drink and a few jammy dodgers the GCC team were ready for the Bangor innings.  Opening bowlers Jack Billington 9-0 and Ethan McCarthy 4-0 set then standard.  The wicket was assisting the spinners and Jack Cooper followed with a spell of 3-1, Ryan McCarthy 4-1, Rufus Bland 1-2, Dan Jones 2-1, Tom Barlow 2-1 and Toby Bellis 5-2 completed the bowling attack.  This left Bangor struggling on 32-8 off their 20 overs. Much still to work on with the extras column Bangor's highest score.

GCC through to the regional final.  Big thanks to the mums and Dads for the catering and George for his work on the wicket to get the game on...... SHOO! SHOO!....anyone for crispy duck!
