Match Report | Gresford headed to Marchwiel for a pre-season friendly with preparation for next week's opener against Pontblyddyn in mind. Marchwiel elected to bowl first on what was a very true wicket for April. Alex Ellwood struck a boundary in the first over but was dismissed lbw next over. Matthew Cree hit 34 and looked in good form before his dismissal sparked a mini collapse. Paddy Richards then hit 30 to steady the ship before another flurry of wickets left Gresford 139-9. Matt Daulby then let loose with a run a ball 34 in a last wicket stand of 47 that took the visitors to 186 all out. This looed to be a defendable total with Gareth Bell on the mark from ball one, taking two crucial early wickets. Paddy Richards then struck 3 times, with Danny Williams, Simon Perry and Chris Ellwood all taking wickets to see Marchwiel dismissed short of their target. A good bowling and fielding display and a decent practice for the batsmen who all managed to get some time in the middle. |
