LLANWRST U13'S V GCC U13 - NORTH WALES LEAGUE FINAL 2013

A sun kissed Sunday late in September saw the North Wales league finals being played at Llandudno Cricket Club, a day for the Incredibles!!.

GCC were put into bat by the opposition and immediately siezed the initative with skipper Sam Thompson and Rob Clark making a blistering start by scoring a maximum of 25 before retiring undeafeted.  Zak in next started promisingly but fell to a good delivery, Dan Parry (19) and Ryan Williams also retired on 25* pushed the score along quickly.  Tomos Roberts was next in and made 10 before being caught.  We then suffered some jittery batting performances as the wickets tumbled, nevertheless 125-9 off the allocated 16 overs for the match seemed quite competitive.

Cam Evans opened the bowling for GCC and had an excellent set with his three overs going for just 6 runs and one Llanwrst scalp was taken.  Ryan Williams, Sam Thompson Jack Cooper and Zak all bowled well, however the extras column was rising too quickly eventually resting on 25 runs, most of which came from wides.  Swiftly moving on ... fielding standards were good with the whole team putting in a good display, especially one pick out moment a pick up and throw of 'Deadly' Dan Parry from the boundary, which led to Rob Clark taking the bails off to run out the Llanwrst dangerman.  This piece of excellent work effectively ended the Llanwrst effort to chase our score and GCC restricted the opposition to 90 off their 16 overs.  Tomos Roberts Ryan McCarthy, Toby Bellis, Scott Hodgson all protected the boundary and the skipper got the defensive tactics spot on.

North Wales League Champions 2013.......how does that sound.....magic!!!!

The players received gold medals, certificates and the North Wales Police Championship shield which were presented by Sergeant Neal Parkes who had organised the event.  Celebrations continued at Mackie D's on the A55.

This week has ended with a tinge of disappointment - the England squad named, at least some of these players should have been in if not all of them.

Well done to all the players who have representented the club this season in the U13's and for those going up to the next age group the best of luck what a great way to sign off.... for those in the U13's next year 25 extras, 25 extras see you at winter nets (January 14th)!!!!!!

There should be a profile for the coaches... favourite music..  how about a bit of Quo...
