Gresford Under 13's Vs GCC Vs Northop Hall - NEW League Final

NORTH EAST WALES LEAGUE FINAL 2013 - NORTHOP HALL U13 Vs GRESFORD U13

This was it, the league final NEW north division winners vs south on a sunny day in August...perfect.  Skipper Thompson won the toss and decided to put Northop Hall in.  Seven bowlers used and Rob Clark behind the stumps.  Who is this opening the bowling on debut for the U13's, Cam Evans had impressed in the nets and given his opportunity.  He bowled very well with 5 runs coming off his 3 overs and two of those were maidens.  Sam at the other end did not let NH get away with an equally tight spell, conceding just 4 runs in his spell and bowling NH's dangerman for 5.  Gradually the fielding standards warmed up as the coaching call of CATCH, STOP, THROW came into fruition and GCC grew into the game; Scott Hodgson with his one handed pickups and Tomos Williams with his long barrier showing good 'teckers', also Tommy Roberts with a number of diving stops set high standards.  Henry Soper was next to bowl and conceded just 10 in his spell, followed by Tommy Roberts who conceded just 7 runs and took a wicket.  Jack 'Coops' then took two wickets in his spell as NH struggled to move the score on.  Dan Parry kept the pressure on with his three overs as NH started to run out of overs.  Toby Bellis finished the 20 overs conceding just 12 runs.  NH finished on 64-7, with two batsmen run out, two bowled, and three caught.  Just 7 in the extras column and a good fielding display meant that the game was dominated by the young GCC side.

Now for the run chase, Sam Thomson soon reached 33* retired with seven boundaries.  Rob Clark at the other end played some excellent shots for his undeafeated 19*.  Once Sam had retired, Zac Dobie came to the crease and knocked off the 11 needed in only the eigth over for GCC to win by 10 wickets.
