Match Report | GCC U13 Vs BRYMBO U13 - 6th June 2013 Drama before the match started, one of our 'little britches' was sent home from school, he said, Doctor Doctor, every time I stand up quickly I keep seeing, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy Doctor: how long have you been getting these disney spells? Brymbo batted first and scored 123-6 off their 20 overs and its fair to say that our fielding was 'disney'. As far as a team effort there was not even the 'bare necessities', I mean the 'bare necessities of (cricket) life! We treated the ball like a prickly 'paw paw' and the great Baloo would say you never do that! 'Wherever we have wandered and wherever we have roamed, no side has ever scored that many against us at home'! The pick of the bowlers was Henry Soper (2-12), and Tomos Roberts the pick of the fielders, with his speed to back up. Thirty three runs in the extras column and some of the overs going for 19 runs, makes sorry reading. Brymbo had their tails up and rightly expected to ease home... well those Jaffa cakes at the interval were going to have a sprinkle of 'cryptonite' if we could get near the 7 an over run rate. Skipper for the evening Ryan Williams and Scott Hodgson were sent in and laid an excellent foundation. Both retired undefeated on 30 & 32 respectively and left the field to an applause louder that of a load of bears at a tree scratching event. However, at the half way stage we were still on 56 despite having all our wickets in hand. Enter Zac Dobie, who took on the simple 'bare necessities, to an old coaches recipies' and fired an undefeated 31 in 14 deliveries. I think he must have spotted there was one jammy dodger left! Dan Parry, who was next at the crease continued to harry the bowlers. He was joined by Tomos 'Tommy' Roberts, who had clearly decided to finish it with a quick fire 13, with two glorious sweep shots, to turn the match in Gresfords favour. GCC won the match with 126-0 during the sixteenth over, but little britches, we didn't half make it difficult for ourselves.
