Gresford Under 13's Vs Gwersyllt U13 (H)

GCC U13 v GWERSYLLT U13 - 9th May 2013

A cold windy start to the season as we welcomed Phil and his Gwersyllt U13's to Clappers Lane for the opening encounter.  Our visitors batted first and were met with the young opening bowlers of Henry Soper (1-6) and Jack Cooper (1-5) who kept the opposition pegged down.  The two Ryan's then followed, Williams and McCarthy that is, returning figures of (6-2) and (4-2).  Tomos Williams (1-9), Tomos Roberts (4-1), Scott Hodgson (6-0) and Ethan McCarthy (14-0) completed the bowling attack.  Gwersyllt were all out for 56 in the sixteenth over.

After a quick drink and a biscuit, Gresford openers Rob Clark and Jack Cooper began the run chase.  Gwersyllts' bowlers caused some problems bowling well in the blustery conditions.  Both made ten each and going steadily when they were dismissed in quick succession.  Skipper for the evening Ryan Williams, accompanied by Dan Parry came to the crease and as the evening temperature dropped these two turned up the heat with a quick fire batting display with Dan craking four boundaries in his 24 not out and Ryan was undeafeated on 10 when the winning runs were scored.

Gresford's fielding display looked very rusty with much more work to do.  Nevertheless, the pick of the bowlers on the night was Ryan McCarthy and the pick of the batsmen was Dan Parry, ensuring GCC were off the mark in 2013 season. Congratulations to those on debut and to the mums for sorting the refreshments out.
