| Match Report | 2nd Round Welsh Cup 23rd May 2012 - THOMPSON CONDUCTS, SAM HITS THE HIGH NOTES GCC were put into bat and Matty (16) and Sam (30 n/o) were attacking the openers and piling on the runs. When one sneaked under Matty's bat Xan (18) had a plan.. and started cracking the ball to all parts in his quickfire innings. The middle order dropped the baton and four wickets went down before you could say drum role. The 'Mighty Quinn' then steadied the ship with an undefeated 8 to bring the score 104 off 20 overs. Following a quick interval Quinny was back to open the bowling with a very respectable three overs. Tommy Roberts at the other end took one of the openers again without missing a beat. Ryan then took 2:10, Sam Thompson just couldn't be kept out of the match with 3 wickets from two maiden overs! Scott, Jack Cooper (yes another Cooper in the team!!!!) and Will Roberts also bowled well. Most impressive was the team appraoch to fielding and supporting the bowlers. Xan, Scott, the Mighty Quinn and Rob set the standards with althletic stops. GCC throughly deserved to go through to the Regional final bowling Denbigh out for 45. |
