Brymbo v GCC u13 - First Round Welsh Cup

A big start to the new season with the first round of the Welsh Cup.  Conditions were breezy and damp but, our opponents deserve great credit for getting the game on.  Captain Matt Thompson decided to bowl first which seemed to pay dividends.  The wicket was low and slow making it hard work to score runs and the opening bowlers of Xan Filer (5-2 off 3), Ryan Williams (7-1 off 3), Jack Cooper (8-1 off 3) and Tommy Roberts (8-1 off 3) certainly started to build the pressure on the opposition.  Matty Thompson, Scott Hodgson, Sam Postle (1) and  Alex quinn all toiled away to complete the bowling attack. Three of the wickets were caught by Matty, Xan and Zack, which were all well taken especially with cold hands.  Good team spirit was evident throughout which was pleasing given the lack of practice we have been able to achieve so far.  Brymbo finished on 60-6 off their 20 overs, however only 35 runs scored of the bat means plenty to work on!

After a short break to get warm Matty (23 n/o rtd) and brother Sam (14) strode out to start the run chase.  A great array of shots with anything outside the line being punished soon had the GCC in a great position.  Zack Dobie and Xan Filer then came to the crease to see GCC ease home in the eleventh over for the loss of just one wicket.
