Match Report | THE DARK KNIGHT RISES IN THE CINEMAS - BUT THE BLONDE BUXTONS FIELDING DISPLAY LIGHTS UP CLAPPERS LANE! Gresford U13 v Gwersyllt U13 - 19th July 2012 The two Alex's were sent out to open the innings for GCC, the 'mighty Quinn helped himself to 17, whilst Buxtons visit to the crease was slightly more brief. Henry Soper then opened his account for the U13's scoring 4, but looking solid. Scott Hodgeson got off to a cracking start scoring 8 before loosing his wicket. Then came Filer the 'finisher', who pushed the score up at a steady rate until he retired undeafeated on 30*. He was joined at the crease by Sam Postle who also batted very well for his 18. Tomos Roberts (7) looked to get a start, but then Ryan and Will pushed again and were undeafeated on 20 and 8 respectively with some excellent running between the wickets. The GCC innings finished on 138-6 off 20 overs. Great to see a number of players were using tactical and technical skills with the pace of the bowlers to score runs behind the wickets, which had been the theme of this weeks training session.
After a few packets of custard creams and Zac 'biscuit' Dobie earning a new nickname amongst the team managed to take two Gwersyllt wickets, with his 'JAFFA' deliveries. . However, his 'no ball' in his two over spell was difficult to 'digestive'! Scott and Tomos were rewarded with two other wickets in their overs. The skipper behind the stumps used ten bowlers in the attack and we managed to peg back the extras column in comparison to recent outings~ but still work to do. The most impressive aspect of the game was the fielding display restricting the opposition and saving runs with fully committed interceptions. Leading the way was Alex Buxton with some excellent work in the covers making it very difficult for the opposition to score any runs. Scott Hodgson, Sam Postle and Quinny took some great catches to support the work of the bowlers, which restricted Gwersyllt to 52-5 off thier 20 overs. |
