Gresford Under 13's Vs Brymbo U13

GCC U 13's v Brymbo U13's - Thursday 14th June 2012

The scorebook noted the conditions were 'damp'  as the Brymbo batsmen took their guards.  Ryan Williams (1-12) opened his account in the first over.  Xan Filer (0-12), Matty Thompson (0-11), Tomos Roberts (2-11) and Will Roberts all bowled very tightly.  Sam Thompson then continued his rich vein of form with figures of (3-12).  'The Mighty Quinn' (1-4) bowled a seasons best so far and Jack Cooper bowled the final over returning figures of (0-6).  Most impressive were the single figures in the extras column and the much improved fielding display.  Alex Buxton on debut was lively as well as Charlie, Scott and Poss.  The whole team kept the intensity in their performance going from the first ball till the last showing the developing character of the team, despite the conditions.

As GCC began their innings there was great rivalry between school mates and the banter was all in the best possible taste.  Byrmbo were up for the challenge as their first team captain looked on.  The exitment was enough to tempt Matty Thompson into a rash single, which he would have been hard pressed to make driving an F1 car.  However, brother Sam at the other end was joined by Xan and they batted with great maturity reaching undefeated 30 and 31 respectively.  Will Roberts then came to the crease and showed great 'teckers' as the opening bowleres were brought back on to try and make some some inroads.  Quinny at the other end looked comfortable as they reached the runs required in the sixteenth over. 

A great game played in the most testing of conditions, but well done to our opponents for carrying on with the match.
