Match Report | GCC U 13's v Ruthin U13's 31st May 2012 - 'THE LIFE OF RYAN' Home turf at last as Ruthin were visitors to Clappers Lane and batted first. Xan the man had a plan and bowled very tighly for his three over spell dismissing one of the openers for just seven runs, but the other opener managed to hang around a bit, he looked a promising cricketer!!!! Alex Quinn (0-7) Ryan Williams (0-8), Sam Postle (1-12), Jack Cooper (1-3), Zac Dobie (1-19), Charlie Griffiths-Jones (1-7), Scott 'one handed pick-up' Hodgson (1-6) and Henry Soper (2-15) with an impressive debut performance, completed the bowling attack. Twenty seven in the extras column....ouch!! flattered the opposition as they reached 87 of their 20 overs. Nevertheless, fielding improving significantly with Hodgson, Postle, Dobie and Roberts setting the standards; the skipper behind the stumps added the vocals. If the 'dad's army' had left any biscuits the players had a quick break and then time for the openers Sam Postle and Ryan Williams to stride out for the run chase. Whilst 'Poss' didn't trouble the scorer for very long Ryan got the party started with an excellent undefeated knock of 31. He developed the innings with singles and then accelerated with some boundary shots. Will then took up the cause and looked solid until his running gamble went wrong with a direct hit on the stumps from one of the Ruthin boys. Matty Thompson (26 n/o) then took to the crease with Scott to see the run chase completed within the twelfth over. The first team captain was on hand to watch the match and was very impressed with the teams efforts.
