Gresford Vs Pont

Second to last game of the season and a must win for the Gresford team.

After a quick warm up the game commenced. Opening the batting Iestyn and Oscar, a solid start from the pair saw Gresford to 209 runs without the loss of a wicket. Iestyn put bat to ball well placing every shot carefully. Oscar likewise took his time using his experience to craft runs out of a slow pitch.

Second pair of the evening Jenson and Dylan. The pair faced some accurate bowling and did well to keep the ball away from the stumps. Dylan found is rythem placing the ball between fielders and calling for quick singles. Jenson followed the lead of his partner showing a strong front foot drive which produced run after run. The pair took the team to 226 runs a great start.

Lewis Roberts and Fin Thomson were next up. The pair looked ready to face the task at hand. Lewis stormed his way to a quick 13 runs, sending the ball on journey after journey. Lewis's shot of the day a well timed off side drive placed over the top of the fielders shooting across the boundary line. Fin continued the attacking approach pair's. Shot after shot Fin produced the goods adding to Gresford' s running total, sweetly timed leg side glances and some great looking cut shots took his total to 7.

Gresford now moved on to 255.

Last pair to close the innings Ranija and Matty. Ranija faced first and held his own against some good length bowling. After seeing the ball for a few deliveries Ranija let loose. 17 runs Ranija's total top scoring for the evening. Showing great all round batting skills the Pont team struggled to contain the runs frenzy. Matty likewise batted in the same approach, a speedy 3 the highlight of his innings. Calling between the wickets was good and shot selection even better as he powered towards 7 runs.

Gresford finished on 281 a great start, but the bowling needed to be tught to back up a strong batting performance.

Dylan like so many times this year opened the bowling, and got Gresford off to the best possible start 2 wickets in one over. His second over just as tight coming close to the wickets time and time again.

Ranija bowling figures were impressive 2 overs 1 wicket and hardly any runs from the bat, zipping the ball past the bat and in to Matty' s gloves on multiple occasions. Gresford were doing there job well keeping the runs down and taking key wickets.

Oscar played his part in the bowling attack on Pont, picking up 2 wickets from bowling.Great lines right on the stumps helped Oscar keep the runs down as the batsmen struggled to get the ball away.

Fin continued to impress with the ball, using his great bowling action Fin sent the ball down towards the batsmen with speed. His two overs going for very little, so unlucky not to get a wicket.

Lewis picked up Greford' s next wicket, and went on to bowl three overs, his third the best of the lot not a run scored from it keeping Pont' s run chase down.

Jenson played in his first under 11s game, you wouldn't have been able to tell though. His batting was good and this was backed up with some serious bowling skills. 2 wickets in two balls the highlight of his game.

Iestyn the last of the bowlers found his line quickly and was rewarded  accordingly with a great wicket. Line and length kept runs to a minimum.

Matty once again great behind the stumps.

Pont finished on 211 runs giving Gresford another great win.

Player of the match.

Jenson Vye-Showing great bowling and batting skills in his first hard ball fixture and coming close to getting a hatrick of wickets. Well done.
