2nd game of the season.
The Gresford troops started the morning off with a scenic trip to Malpas CC.
Upon arrival the Gresford team were straight into their batting, first to the middle Kathryn and James. Four overs in 17 runs on the board great start. Kathryn showing off her talent on the front foot timing the ball to perfection, and James connecting with some real power sending the ball over the boundary line on more than one occasion.
2nd to the crease Josh Renouf and Christian. The pair kept the ball rolling that is all the way to the boundary. Christian hitting an impressive 4 fours looking like a seasoned pro and Josh R backing up Christian by sending the ball over the boundary line himself.
Louie and Charlie had there turn with the bat. Louie playing some great shots his best a leg side glance for four. Charlie also found the middle of his bat looking like he’d been playing cricket for years, protecting the stumps with real skill.
Last to go to work Jenson and Josh Tifase. The double J carried on the positive batting against some challenging bowling. Jenson using his feet well dancing around the crease to get to the ball and Josh T standing and delivering with some good technical shots.
16 overs down time for some refreshments or for the Gresford lot a sugar rush. The scores on the doors 267 a great start.
Time to bowl.
Opening up non other that Jenson Vye. His two overs accurate and quick great way to set the standard for the others to follow.
Josh Tifase followed up next, again on the money letting the ball do all the work skidding past the bat on more than one occasion.
Josh Renouf wasn’t letting the batsmen have a break making sure that his bowling was at the stumps for his two overs.
Charlie bowled two cracking overs changing the line and length to confuse the batsmen, coming close to getting a wicket on more than one occasion. James shone again with the ball , using the seam with great skill ensuring the ball floated down the other end making it impossible for the batsmen, being rewarded with a wicket.
Christian made an impact straight away shocking the Malpas players with his speed and ability , his two overs went for little runs.
Kathryn was doing it for the girls bowling two fantastic overs with only one shot coming from the Malpas batsmen.. Finally Louie after finding his feet and slowing his bowling down started to succeed homing in on the stumps.
Like that the game was done.
Malpas reached 295 runs just edging the game on the day. That is not to say Gresford didn’t play well. On a whole a very impressive performance.
Player of the match
James was favourite for the award, all down to some superb skills with the bat, bowling with real accuracy and topping it all off with an amazing run out.
