Match Report | Gresford Earn Hard Fought Victory Over Denbigh After having to wait 4 weeks to make their Division 3 bow, the 2nd XI dodged the rain to take on last years 3rd place finishers Denbigh. Immediately Gresford could see the difference in quality from Division 4 to 3, as Denbigh bowled tightly from the off. Ian Weaver was dismissed in unlcuky fashion. This brought Jack Bunkell in to accompany Rory Benson for what was a match winning partnership. On a day where it was nigh on impossible to reach the bounday, Bunkell and Benson ran aggressively and both scored 30's. Both scores worth at least double that on a dry day. Handy knocks from Bell, Baker, Morris and Perry took the total to 126. Bunkell then continued his fine game with two important early scalps. Simon Perry (3-28 off 12) and Jimmy Williams (0-18 off 12) then applied the squeeze as Denbigh began to feel the pressure. Gresford held their nerve at the death with Bunkell coming back to finish the game in style with two more wickets finishing with figures of 4-25. Denbigh finsihing 18 runs short.
