Match Report | Gresford Vs Bersham Although the Gresford side were playing away, the 11 players to Bersham's 5 made the fixture seem some what more local ! Due to the shear amount of Gresford Players, the fixture was turned into a Gresford mixed game. The first team to bat included Dan, Rohan, Chris, Oliver, Sebastian and Morgan with the addition of two Bersham players. Opening the batting was Dan and Rohan, Dan showed great patience waiting for the bad ball to send away to the boundary, finishing on 14 runs including 3 fours. Rohan knocked the ball around with confidence scampering for quick singles on more than one ocasion. 2nd pair of the evening included debut apperances for Chris and Oliver. Chris found his form quickly putting real power behind the ball sending it off in all directions, and Oliver played the leg side glance with ease guiding the ball into space. The last two to face the bowling attack included Sebastian and Morgan. The flat bat of Sebastian was to much for the fielding side as the ball crashed off the bat and over the boundary line, two 4's accompanied his total of 10. The other end Morgan saw his chance, getting into good positions and planting his foot next to the ball, allowed for some effective shots, including another boundary. Bowling wise the opposition included Wes, Ranija, Tom, Luke, Freddie. Wes' two overs saw for some tight bowling lines and aggressive bounce. His figures included two wickets. Ranija after equalled the start of the skipper, taking a further 2 wickets, swinging the ball confusing the batting side. Tom found his rhythem quickly hitting the mark going for just 4 runs from the bat. Luke rose to the challenge set be his team mates, no runs in his first over and a wicket in his final made for some good reading. Freddie follwed suit finding his line quickly homing in on the off stump, making it difficult for the batsmen. The total posted 261 After a brief break the teams switched roles. Opening the batting this time Wes and Freddie. Freddie put bat on ball, keeping out the good bowling lines of the opposition sneaking qucik runs where possible. Wesley hit the ground running, well he didn't need to do much running as 4 boundaries took his total to 18 runs. Following on from the impressive start was Ranija and Tom. The leg side field was pierced by two thundering shots from Ranija both going for four, this was assisted by some good drives leading him to 10 runs. Batting partner Tom played an impressive innings, first competitive match didn't deter this batsman as he got to work hitting the ball around the ground. Last to put his stamp on proceedings Luke, his cricketing brain kicked in as he stopped the ball from passing the bat onto the stumps, keeping out some very quick bowling. Doing his bit for the team. Trying to stop the charge of the batting team was the 6 other Gresford boys. Opening the bowling Sebastian his two overs were effective, good speed and accurate deliveries made for some nice figures. Morgan's bowling got better ball by ball, the highlight his second over which went for no runs. Chris stood out with the ball, first over no runs from the bat, second over wicket ball !! Dan had his turn at bowling two overs one wicket, the pace was to much for the batsmen as they struggled to play there shots. Last to bowl Rohan a wicket in his first over set the tone for his two overs, only five runs conceeded. The total posted 279. A good game with some great all round cricket from everyone. Player of the match- Ranija impressing everyone with his batting and accurate bowling. |
