Next in to take up the mantle, F. Clegg and Z. Cabral. The second partnership of the evening took Gresford to 31 runs, a healthy total. Freddie displayed a confident innings finishing on 6 runs. Zoe’s performance showcased her talent with the bat, topping batting partner Freddie by just one run. S. Hawkey and M. Hughes were the third Gresford pair. The bowling again was aggressive and hard to get away. Morgan held firm waiting for the bad ball, dispatching it to the boundary, keeping a cool head for the whole innings. Sebastian struggled to made inroads on the grass wicket, but continued to show his determination as he blocked out the bowling. The final partnership fell to D. Cabral and W. Evans, both finishing the innings with a flurry. Wes scoring 11 runs and Dan topping proceeding with an impressive 17 runs. Wesley once again looked the part running quickly between the wickets and attacking the ball. The batting from Mr Cabral was faultless, catching the eye of the spectators with his ability to play the ball with ease. Gresford finished on 256 runs, with the loss of just 4 wickets. Interval time and Malpas had laid out a feast, the team’s eyes and a few parents lit up as the food began to disappear. With full stomachs Gresford took to the field, the wicket keeper for the first half Tom taking the ball behind the stumps not letting many byes past. Matty’s two overs were solid, a wicket in his second and a few outstanding catching in the field topped of a very good individual performance. Rohan’s first over saw three wickets fall, down to some pacey accurate bowling lines. His second over complimented the first nearly taking a further 2 wickets. Sebastian found his rhythm, using the seam of the ball and the grass pitch well pitching the ball in good areas. Next to bowl was Zoe, her two overs saw just 4 runs scored from the bat. Keeping the scores nice and tight putting all the pressure on the batsmen to come. Freddie topped the wicket table for the evening taking 4 wickets, an outstanding bowling performance!! Freddie’s fielding has to be mentioned as well, putting his body on the line taking catching and getting a direct hit on the stumps!!!! Dan’s overs were quick, struggling to see the ball the batsmen failed to score many runs. Topping off his figures with a beauty of a wicket. Wesley picked up an injury in his first over, that didn’t make much difference though as he took another Gresford wicket as the batsmen failed to score a single run from his over. Finally Morgan’s spell, a wicket second ball set the tone for his two overs. Bowling tight lines allowed the team to restrict the runs scored. Malpas finished on 237 runs, giving way for another Gresford victory. The fielding was superb, the bowling accurate and the batting confident. Well done everyone. Player of the match- Mondays game saw Freddie take 4 wickets, and field exceptionally well which topped off a good batting performance. Well-deserved player of the week
