Gresford Vs Pontblyddyn

The game was on!! After a very wet week, surprisingly the Gresford surface stood strong allowing for another cracker of a game to commence. The opponents Pontblyddyn.

As home games dictate Gresford took to the field first ready to put on another show. Opening the bowling Dan Cabrel as expected bowling nice and steady, which was mirrored in his second over. Matty's two overs were exceptional one run off his first over and a wicket in his second. Freddie looked good sending the ball to the other end with pace restricting the runs even further. Sebastian struck again in his overs adding another wicket to his tally for the year. Ciaran looked good in his first competitive fixture, bowling tight lines and letting the ball do the work. Luke’s 2 overs were confident, his second the more impressive bowing the final over of the innings. Ethan's two overs were as good as they come 2 fantastic wickets, bowling with real accuracy. Rohan’s only over, nice, no wides and only two runs from the bat and finally but by no means least Ruben in his first competitive fixture showed great bowling skill, putting the ball on the dot more than once.

Pontblyddyn 247 off 16, a total which would soon cause trouble.

After a brief break we were off again. Opening the batting Ruben Luke and Ciaran. All three saw the team off to a relatively good start. Not an easy job to do considering the accuracy and bounce of the bowling.

Second in Sebastian and Morgan, the pair started with a wobble losing a few quick early wickets, but regained their confidence to finish well.

Ethan and Matty came to the crease next, taking on the task of scoring some much needed runs, and did so communicating and running well.

Rohan and Freddie continued to boost the teams score, hitting 12 runs off their 4 overs, Rohan top scoring with 7. Last to bat Wes and Dan. The team total 12, runs needed 38. With a lot to do the pair began the formidable task. First over and 6 from it steady but in the right direction. Second over 14 from it, hopes started to increase, as did the nerves. 16 needed from 2 overs. 8 off the third send Gresford to 41 runs. The last over and the game still in the balance, first ball 4 runs, third ball 4 runs and final ball 4 runs. WOW what a comeback. Well done to Wes and Dan, Wes finishing on 19 runs smashing the ball in every direction, and Dan 10 runs using the pace of the ball yet again to help him out very smart batting.

Gresford finished 10 runs ahead on Pontblyddyn, leaving it closer than it could have been.
