Match Report | Another Gresford game another Sunday Morning This week the opponents were Pontblyddyn, as rules dictate Gresford were to bat first. Andy and James and the honour of opening proceedings. The pair got the team moving, James looking for the tip and run and Andy looking for the power maximum, both approaches worked well. Second to enter the game Ella and Matty, the team work was great to watch as the ball sailed into the outfield the pair communicated well calling for 2s and 3s. Matty top scored with 7 including a nice looking 4 and Ella supported the innings finding weaknesses in the field. Jake and Dylan's innings went hand in hand both finishing on 5 runs including two 2's and a single. Jake waiting for the right ball and played the right shot and Dylan picked the gaps. Adam and Rhys continued Gresfords batting performance, Rhys using his hand-eye co-ordination watching the ball on to the bat and Adam using good old fashioned power to attack the ball. Jenson and Ethan took over next both batting well not loosing a wicket. Jenson used his feet to his advantage getting to the pitch of the ball to minimise the risk factor, and Ethan opened himself up allowing for more room to play his shots. Two techniques same result confident batting. Last to face the bowling Archie and Callum. Archie top scored for the day with 12 runs including two 4's, a really good innings to watch, and Callum proved to be the perfect batting teammate supporting Archie hitting the ball around for quick runs. Gresford had done all they could with the bat now finishing on 296 runs. Time to defend the total Archie opened up the bowling in style two overs for 3 runs, a good start setting the standard. Adam bowled next adding to Gresfords good start with two overs going for 1 run from the bat. The accurate bowling continued in the form of Dylan, grabbing Gresfords first wicket of the day keeping the runs to a minimum. Matty quickly responded to the wicket adding 2 more to Gresfords wicket tally in his two overs. Callum's bowling was another good performance his two overs saw another wicket fall and a batting performance which was restricted. Ella topped the wicket tally with a cracking 3 wickets in one over followed up by some tight lines. Rhys's over saw little in the way of runs for the batsmen, his bowling lines good and his speed fast. Jake again followed what was becoming a predictable bowling performance another over for minimal runs. Andy took another wicket for the team in his over, and saw an opportunity to restrict the run flow. Ethan did the same, a well bowled delivery that clattered into the stumps. Jenson's over was sharp no runs from the bat and two wickets in two balls made for some good watching. Finally James who found a good line and line and kept hitting it not letting the batsmen get any of the balls away. A good team effort leading to a good win. Player of the match Callum Millington his batting was faultless and his bowling much improved adding wickets and pressure to the game. |
