Match Report |
Gresford chalked up their first win of the season, thanks in part to some powerful hiting from Rory Benson and some tight bowling at the death from Alex Morton and Jim Carr. Benson led the way with 51 (pretty sure he needed water from the 1st over after running a two!!) before a mini collapse left Gresford needing 20 runs for a competitive total. 3 boundaries in the last over took Gresford to a defendable 116. In reply, Golden Eagle lost an early wicket as Simon Perry took the first of his 4 wickets. The game was going the way of the hosts until Carr and Morton pulled it back with a series of dot ball. This was helped by some excellent in fielding from the younger members of the team. In the end, Golden Eagle fell short by a 10 runs and Gresford will hope to build on the victory at home next week against Oakmere. SP
