Match Report | The final game of the season saw HP needing a win to guarantee their Prem status. They were at full strength, Chris reported 23 players u/a fpr a variety of reasons and in the end it showed. At 47 for 4, HP were struggling at 223 for 9 they were confident...and rightly so! Gresford ended on 77...but at least we had the satisfaction of a comfortable mid table finish to the first season in this division. The game was notable for a number of reasons....Tommy Roberts debut, the last game ever at the Castle Ground and perhaps this seasons champagne moment. Neil (not his debut) Ellwood was drafted in to the team late on Saturday morning. Fielding at shortish cover, he got in the way (or dived to his left to take a magnificent one handed catch) of a fierce drive from HP`s overseas and some how pulled off the catch of the season! Neil`s shocked expression matched Matty C`s delight as the bowler...half volley`s do get wks. |
