Match Report

Last South Division match of the season, Malpas batted first, but Capt Morris and Charlie Maclosky soon had them under pressure.  Charlie's snorting yorker dispatched the first of the openers and Morris sent then next two batsmen back in double quick time.  Then came the spin attack of Adam Sawney (1-10) and Simon Bent (0-9), who was on debut, both bowling very tight spells.  Matty Griffiths -(1-7), the mighty Quinn ((1-8), Chris Mullock (1-4) and Webby (0-3) saw the opposition scramble to 68-8 off their 20 overs.

A special South Division winners chocolate cake and some cup cakes and some biscuits and some squash and we had forgotten why we were all there...oh yes the match.  Skipper Harry Morris asked the scorer, "Do you know the statistics for last year"?.  George replied,"298 gallons of squash, 60 dohnuts, twenty packets of custard creams, a packet of hob nobs and a new cap for grandad!

A new look opening partnership took to the field of Matty Thompson and Luke Sawney.  Good luck texts were coming in from all over the globe, 'it's 25 degrees here and we have just had some catching practice in the pool'! yeh thanks Jacob.  The openers made a partnership of 20 and Luke made 15 of them and we will leave it at that !  Webby then took his oportunity and created havoc with a quick fire 18 not out. Mully of the other hand was going very well on 16, until he spotted there was only one piece of chocolate cake left and got out when the win was within touching distance.  The mighty Quinn then went out and with his average in mind  chalked up an undeafeated 'one', whilst Webby cracked a four to get the winning runs in the tenth over...any chocolate cake left?

An excellent league season with GCC U13's champions and undefeated in the South Division
